Feel Closer at Las Placitas Compound
Santa Fe is one of the few communities that has retained the charm and unhurried pace of it’s southwestern roots, while boasting modern conveniences and a range of sought-after amenities. It is in Santa Fe’s Historic District that McDowell Satzinger Fine Homes have chosen to design and build Las Placitas Compound, Santa Fe’s first LEED Registered project for Gold Certification.
Santa Fe’s Historical Eastside District is home to cozy coffee houses, numerous artist galleries on Canyon Road, restaurants and a quiet old world neighborhood ambiance. Further enhancing Santa Fe’s charm, throughout the spring and summer months residents of Las Placitas Compound have close access to the Farmer’s Market for fresh, local produce. Grocery markets, museums, outdoor music and parks are within walking distance to Las Placitas Compound.
Located at 7,000 feet and at the base of the majestic Sangre de Cristo Mountains, Las Placitas Compound enjoys proximity to cherished national forests and popular mountain destinations, as well as quiet streets offering homeowners easy access to downtown Santa Fe Plaza.
Our challenge at Las Placitas Compound was to design and build the homes smart, so they use a minimum of nonrenewable energy, produce a minimum of pollution, while increasing the comfort, health, and safety of the people who live and work in them, and to do so while respecting and adding to the traditional nature of Santa Fe’s Historic District.
The design, construction, and maintenance of LEED for Homes buildings have a tremendous impact on our environment and our natural resources. Responsible building practices offer an opportunity to create environmentally-sound and resource-efficient buildings by using an integrated approach to design. The entire life-cycle of the building and its components is considered, as well as the economic and environmental impact and performance.
At Las Placitas Compound Better is the New Bigger.
McDowell Satzinger Fine Homes designed the homes in Las Placitas Compound to fit harmoniously in to the existing Santa Fe Historic District. The homes vary slightly in style and details to enhance the diversity of the neighborhood it sits within. It is an infill project in the truest sense and finds itself in the midst of a centuries old neighborhood with neighbors who have lived in their homes for generations.
Each home was designed to make use of open concept living while respecting the overall design, form and function of the home. Rooms are human scale and respond to how people are living in their homes and to their needs.
Energy costs at Las Placitas will be low and each home qualifies for sustainable and renewable energy tax credits to the buyers.
In the tradition of Old World design, each home has and entry courtyard and an open family garden area that opens to the inside of the home with ample outside living space and drought tolerant native plantings and trees. A natural water feature adds to the relaxing atmosphere and helps to maintain a calming space for contemplation.
All the homes have energy renewable photovoltaic and solar domestic and thermal features and are built of Faswall, an environmentally sound masonry wall system. All water runoff is caught in underground cisterns and pumped to the irrigation systems on the property.
Come and be a part of Las Placitas Compound and be closer to the heart of Santa Fe.
